SUMMARY:Two Truths in One Heart\, Two Peoples in One Land: Community Event by Jewish Community Alliance
DESCRIPTION:Free but advance registration is required by  September 10. \nNoor Awad & Rabbi Hanan Schlesinger are leaders of the Judea & Samaria/the West Bank-based Roots/Shorashim/Judur\, an Israeli-Palestinian grassroots initiative for understanding\, non-violence\, and transformation. They represent a unique network of Israelis and Palestinians who have come to see each other as partners in the work to make changes to reduce tension\, prevent escalation\, and end the conflict. Their goal is to challenge the two communities’ assumptions for each other and promote open dialogue. Join us at Temple Beth El in Portland for this important conversation as Rav Hanan and Noor share their personal experiences before and after Oct 7th\, 2023. They will also share how their perspectives\, their work\, and their societies have and have not been changed since the war\, and what to expect next in the big picture towards the common goal of peace in the Middle East. \nRoots/Shorashim/Judur is an Israeli-Palestinian grassroots initiative for understanding\, nonviolence and transformation based in Judea & Samaria/the West Bank- is a unique network of local Palestinians and Israelis who have come to see each other as the partners we both need to make changes to end our conflict. Based on mutual recognition of each People’s national identity and connection to the Land\, we are challenging the assumptions our communities hold about each other\, building trust and creating a new discourse around the conflict in our respective societies.
